Site Updates

A couple of updates …

First, I have not been happy with the way I have been able to present the various galleries of images under the Galleries tab on the main menu.  I was hoping to be able to have you select the gallery you would like to view from the drop-down list and go directly into that gallery.  Instead, the WordPress template I am using forces me to use an intermediary page that actually contains the link to the gallery.  I have a couple of ideas that I have been mulling around in my head to make things smoother, but I will not have time to work on them until I return from England in the middle of September.  In the meanwhile …It occurred to me this past week that I had not yet posted a gallery from my trip to the Great Smoky Mountains last spring. That oversight has now been taken care of, and you can find those photos by clicking under the Galleries tab or by clicking here.  I hope you enjoy the photos.

Second, I have made a small, but I believe significant, update to my equipment list under the My Gear tab.  Recently I purchased a Sekonic L-758DR exposure meter.  It was a significant purchase (I sold my 10-24mm DX lens to pay for it), and don’t I have a lightmeter in my camera, anyway?  Well, yes I do, but I find that much of my recent photography is tripod-based, using manual focus, and now manual control of the shutter speed and aperture.  (Kind of old timey.)  Anyway, going back to a handheld meter was just the next step for me.  I have not had much of an opportunity to use, but will be taking it to England with me for some landscape shots I hope to be taking while in the Cotswolds.  I will describe the L-758DR in more detail in a later posting, and hopefully will have some great results to show you from its use.
